Motorized actuator; accessory for
HydroRad radiometric sensors.

|

The HydroShutter-HR is a motorized
shutter designed to be attached to HydroRad hyperspectral radiometer
sensors to prevent bio-fouling during long deployments.
For this purpose a copper blade is attached to the motor shaft, and
the HydroRad powers the motor at appropriate times to uncover or cover its
sensors as it collects data or sleeps.
Like the HydroShutter-HS, the
HydroShutter-HR could be used as a submersible actuator for other
applications. When voltage is applied, the shaft rotates in a direction
determined by the voltage polarity, until it reaches the motion limit set
at assembly time. An
electronic circuit detects the limits of motion and cuts off power to the
motor when a limit is reached.
